Connecticut's answer to Sawgrass #17

Nine-hole golf courses have half as many chances as regulation courses to impress.  When was the last time you played a nine-hole course and later contemplated a memorable hole.  (Many of you are scratching your heads and wondering when was the last time you played a nine-hole course at all.)

I stopped at the nine-hole Vineyard Valley Golf Club in northeastern Connecticut today.  If the views from behind the clubhouse are any indication, Vineyard Valley is worth a trip twice around if for no other reason than to have a go at #9 a couple of times.  At 162 yards from the tee, the hole is a medium length par 3, but size isn't everything.  The green is surrounded by a wall and water, an all or nothing approach.  Play it once, play it twice, but play it carefully.
