Citrus Hills

Citrus County and the “Nature Coast” of Florida may not be as well known as, say, Palm Beach County and the Gold Coast, but that’s good news for those looking for a high level of golfing and other amenities and quality real estate options at prices bargain hunters will appreciate. And, oh, the weather: 274 days a year with temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees thanks to moderating breezes off the nearby Gulf of Mexico and the area’s modestly high elevation (up to 250 feet). At the northern tip of the Tampa Bay region, Citrus Hills offers a lifestyle free of the congestion of major urban areas but with plenty of services and shopping. The child in you will be happy to learn that Disney World and the other attractions of Orlando are barely an hour away. Water-oriented couples will be pleased with the nationally recognized snorkeling, scuba, boating and fishing spots nearby. And for the aerobic minded, the 46-mile Withlacoochee State Park multi-use path is the longest in Florida. But with 81 holes of fine golf at Citrus Hills residents’ disposal, some won’t be venturing too far too often.
